The short version: Beep is used by young children, but purchased and managed by their parents. We handle as little data as possible, never sell it, and never show ads. Your camera and voice stay entirely on your device — nothing is sent to our servers. All purchases are made by parents or guardians, never by children.
My Robot Friend (Beep) is operated by Roni Fialkow. You can reach us at ronfix@gmail.com for any privacy or data enquiries, including COPPA requests.
Camera: Beep uses your device camera so it can see and react to your child. All image processing happens entirely in the browser using face-api.js — nothing is ever transmitted to or stored on our servers. We never capture, record, or retain camera images.
Voice / microphone: Voice commands are recognised by your browser's built-in Web Speech API, provided by your browser vendor (e.g. Google Chrome). Audio is never recorded, stored, or sent to us in any form.
Chat messages: When using Beep Pro, the text of a conversation turn (and occasionally a single low-resolution camera frame to give Beep visual context) is forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API solely to generate Beep's next reply. These are transient API calls — we do not log, store, or analyse conversation content on our servers.
Account information: If you (the parent or guardian) sign in with Google for Beep Pro, we receive your Google account email address and a unique user ID via Firebase Authentication. The only information we store is:
Payment information: Payments are handled entirely by PayPal. We never see or store your card details. We receive only a confirmation once payment is successful. All payment transactions are completed by parents or guardians — never by children.
Usage data: We do not use analytics, tracking cookies, or advertising networks of any kind.
Beep is designed to be used by young children (ages 3–8) under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian. All accounts, purchases, and data management are handled by parents — not children.
We are committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation as it applies to children (GDPR), and equivalent regulations worldwide.

What personal information we collect from children: We do not collect personal information directly from children. Beep never asks a child for their email address, home address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. Nothing a child says during play is stored by us.
Camera and voice (on-device only): All face detection and expression recognition runs entirely within the child's browser using face-api.js — no video, images, or audio are ever transmitted to, or stored by, us. Voice commands are processed by the browser's Web Speech API and are never recorded, stored, or sent to us.
AI conversation content: When using Beep Pro, the text of each conversation turn is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate Beep's reply. This is a transient request — we do not log, store, or analyse conversations. No email addresses or device identifiers are included in these API calls.
Parental rights under COPPA:
To exercise any of the above rights, email ronfix@gmail.com with the subject line "COPPA Request". We will respond within 5 business days.
No advertising to children: We never display advertising to children and we never share children's information with third parties for advertising, marketing, or behavioural profiling.
No selling of children's data: We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information relating to children under any circumstances.
Beep uses the following third-party services:
Account and payment status data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time by emailing ronfix@gmail.com and we will remove your data within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Parents and guardians have full rights under COPPA (see Section 3 above). For all other data rights enquiries, email us at ronfix@gmail.com.
We use industry-standard practices to protect data, including HTTPS encryption and Firebase security rules. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post changes at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of Beep after changes constitutes acceptance.
